In a chaos of pink granite
there exists a myriad of paths:
winding ones,
under rock,
through cove and grove.
straight paths that were once walked
by the feet of customs officals,
and sneaky side paths, made by
the smugglers who avoided them.
paths that connect shore to cottage door,
and others that lead to no place at all.
